Fucina Cortiana

In Ala, the city of velvet, an ancient mill transformed into a forge

Until the eighties, the artisan blacksmith Francesco Cortiana produced tools thanks to the strength of the water of the stream

The last mill in the Ronchi Valley, where cutting tools for agricultural and forestry activities were made up to thirty years ago thanks to a “grinder” operated by the water of the stream.

The stories of Mario Cortiana, the grandson of the blacksmith Francesco, will take you back in time, illustrating the secrets of iron working.

Discover the charm of this valley by walking towards the mill: a short hike with a view of the Little Dolomites will lead you to the Fucina Cortiana.
