Sacrario monumentale di Castel Dante

The final resting place of 20,000 soldiers in Trentino

Sacrario monumentale di Casteldante is a monumental building, built in 1938 on a hill which renders it visible from the entire Vallagarina. Watched over by the Campana dei Caduti (Bell of Peace), there are more than 20,000 Italian, Austrian, Czech and Hungarian soldiers, known and unknown, placed here from various war cemeteries which stood along the surrounding mountains.

On the upper floor you will find the altars and tombs of Damiano Chiesa and Fabio Filzi. On the ground floor, there is a tombstone and an eternal flame in memory of the gold medals of the Trento Legion. There, you can consult the register of the known fallen soldiers buried in the War Memorial. You can see a few military works along the sides of the access road.
