Farming Museum

A journey back in time, in Vallarsa, among ancient traditions and lost civilizations

The reconstruction of the areas of the 19th century farmhouse and an extensive display of farming tools offer you a glimpse into the history of the valley.

Museo della CiviltĂ  Contadina (Farming Museum) of Vallarsa will lead you through a journey back in time into the history of this impervious and solitary valley.

Born from the idea of a group of volunteers, which then became the Centro Studi Museo Etnografico (Ethnographic Museum Study Center), the museum is set up in two locations, both in Riva di Vallarsa, not far from each other.

In the first there are faithful reconstructions of domestic areas of the 19th century farmhouse: the bed, the rocking cradle, the dark wood furniture and the “scent” of the ash-washed laundry; the stove, the copper cookware and buckets for fetching water at the fountain. You will also find old school desks with notebooks, ink and inkwells, the chalkboard and the map.

The other museum location exhibits the farming tools: the plow, the hoe for preparing the soil for planting, the bushel baskets for the grains of wheat. Objects, documents and photographs tell of the daily hard work and the satisfactions of working in the fields, which for centuries characterized life in Vallarsa.
