Castione in Brentonico

The breath of ancient trees

Walk among the majestic trees of this alpine village and discover the main fruits of Monte Baldo: chestnuts.

You are on the Brentonico upland, between Adige river and Lake Garda in the heart of Monte Baldo Natural Park, known by all the European botanists as the “Italian Garden” thanks to its rich variety of plants and flowers.

Here is the small village of Castione, characterized by the huge amount of trees that produce a special fruit that has made this small town so renowned: chestnuts! These ancient and majestic trees raise all around the small village, their leafy branches become gold during autumn…a breathtaking sight.

And it is exactly autumn the perfect period to visit this corner of Trentino, take part in the guided tours through the chestnut trees during the event “Sapori d’autunno”, taste the chestnuts in their pure form during the annual “Chestnut feast” or re-elaborated in the autumn menu of local restaurants.

Do you want to do an evocative walk? Follow the chestnut trees path that links Castione to Brentonico village with an obligatory stop at the Viesi Carlo farm for a tasting of chestnuts and craft beer with chestnut honey.
