Palazzo Todeschi-Micheli

The “home of Mozart”

In Rovereto, on Via Mercerie, the palazzo of the Barons Todeschi dates back to the eighteenth century. It joins three pre-existing buildings with a remarkably elegant interior with period furnishings and stuccos. Notice the noble family’s stone crest above the door.

Retrace the paths of Mozart, stopping to read the commemorative plaque on the facade of the building.

As the verses carved into the stone remind us, it was in this place on the 25th of December 1769 that Mozart held his first acclaimed concert in Italy in the presence of nobles and other important people from Rovereto. The palazzo has held numerous editions of the Festival Internazionale W.A Mozart (International W.A. Mozart Festival) and was home to the Mozart Italia Association that organises the Settimana Mozartiana (Mozart Week) every year in autumn.
