Besenello, at the foot of Beseno Castle

The kingdom of Moscato Giallo along the Adige cycle lane

Stop in Besenello, halfway between Rovereto and Trento, to visit Beseno Castle and sip a glass of Moscato Giallo. At the beginning of september, do not miss the “Magnalonga”, its food&wine event.

Besenello is a small town lapped by the Adige cycle lane, just 10 minutes from Rovereto. It is worth stopping at, especially to see Beseno Castle, Trentino’s largest fortified complex, which you can see from the A22 highway. During the Summer, the castle becomes an evocative stage for performances and historic reenactments. We also recommend you the Church of Sant’Agata, which holds two large tombstones of the Trapp family, Lords of Beseno Castle, and the ancient little church of Santa Marina.

In Besenello you can take mountain bike or hiking excursions. We recommend the art path which ideally connects the three towns of Calliano, Besenello and Volano, passing through places of artistic interest and natural landscapes of great charm.

The area enjoys a particularly mild climate which is ideal for producing fruit and wine, among which Moscato Giallo, the aromatic white wine par excellence of the Alta Vallagarina, the vineyards of which can be seen in the area around the hill of Beseno Castle.

The first Sunday of September, Besenello organizes, together with the towns of Volano and Calliano, the “Magnalonga”, Trentino’s first wine and food walk, also with gluten-free menus.
