The Way of Saint Rocco

Nature and Spirituality among capitals, churches and frescoes

A path made up of people and encounters, where history, culture and nature intertwine along ancient paths and small, cosy villages.

The Way of Saint Rocco is a 70 km itinerary in the lower Trentino region that crosses Mori, Ronzo-Chienis, Val di Gresta and the Brentonico Plateau, territories in Vallagarina devoted to landscape care, environmental and agricultural sustainability.

Inspired by Saint Roch, protector against pandemics and symbolic figure for volunteers and pilgrims, it was born in the difficult 2020 from a proposal that emerged from the community. The route took shape step by step thanks to the discovery of 28 capitals dedicated to the saint in the area.

Along the Saint Roch’s Path, which unfolds over 5 suggested stages, you will cross many landscapes characterised by the legacy of the Great War, traces of the plague in the 1600s, churches and capitals of great historical value, terraces and the dry stone walls of the Val di Gresta, fields, vineyards and noble residences, small villages and a nature park, the meadows of the Brentonico Plateau.

Before setting off, download the GPX tracks to keep an eye on the route! The Cammino di San Rocco (path F20) is marked with official SAT signs and red and white painted markers and flags.
At the beginning of the first stage in Mori, remember to pick up your Cammino di San Rocco credential, which will make you recognisable in the participating establishments and entitle you to various reductions and discounts. On the credential you will be able to affix the 11 official stamps that you will encounter along the Way, in addition to those provided by associations and establishments along the Way.

The itinerary can be walked all year round and in complete safety, both alone and in company, and is a mixed itinerary with stretches of path, dirt road and stretches on asphalt.

The San Rocco Walk is a project realised thanks to the commitment of a close-knit network of citizens, associations and non-profit organisations, local administrations: three municipalities, the Vallagarina Community, the Local Nature Park of Monte Baldo, the Rovereto Vallagarina and Monte Baldo Tourist Board, tourist accommodation (Bed & Breakfasts, farm holiday centres, etc.) and economic operators in the areas crossed by the Walk.
