A suggestive visual journey through the places and memory of a city deeply influenced by centuries of serica activity, and where traces of it can still be recognized.

The exhibition “Silk threads. Paolo Aldi’s visions and suggestions” (literally “Fili della Seta. Visioni e suggestioni di Paolo Aldi”) is inspired by the history of the silk industry in Rovereto: it develops through 20 exclusive works printed on precious sheets of mulberry paper. These floating images include woven silk threads symbolizing Rovereto’s historical ties to the silk industry. Each work represents a “visual archive” where photographs, historical documents and symbols of the local silk tradition blend with current images, evoking the essence of a place rich in a history settled in time that still survives today.

The exhibition moves on two levels: the artistic one, through photographic collages that stimulate curiosity and reflections, and the documentary one, where the photos fix the identity of today’s Rovereto, which preserves in its urban fabric the architectural signs of the ancient silk industry.

The museum also houses a permanent room on the first floor dedicated to the silk industry of Rovereto, with historical testimonies and interactive materials which make it easy to understand all the steps of the production of silk thread and the importance that this activity had for the city. The exhibition is aimed at all: citizens, students, art lovers and tourists, allowing to deepen and reconnect with the past and the heritage of the city.

APT Rovereto Vallagarina Monte Baldo also offers some special events linked to the exhibition.
